Introduction

I have a love and passion for traveling and exploring. I've had the opportunity to visit many different countries and study abroad in New Zealand spring semester of my sophomore year. Upon my return, I shared my experiences with my friends and family who disclose to me that they wish they could do the same however they don't have the money. As a broke college student, I took a look around and admired all the nice things they had. That's when I realized our priorities were just different.

Everyone has different wants and needs, it's how they prioritize them that's important. Do you really need that 55" smart TV? Or that $400 Apple Watch? (I'm guilty of this one). If we didn't spend so much money on things we don't need we would be able to save more towards a greater goal. This generated the question I would like to explore;

"Why do we buy things that we don't need?"

Introduction
The Challenge

The Challenge

I asked 5 people, including myself, to participate in a challenge where they were not allowed to spend money for two weeks except on necessities such as gas, groceries, bills, etc.

If they wanted to buy something they were required to journal it and at the end of the two weeks state whether or not they went back to buy the product. Lastly, I asked them to reflect how they felt at the end.

The participants I chose, were 4 college girls who defined themselves as shoppers and were susceptible to impulse buying as well as buyers remorse.
